Day 29- CST

What a workout. Today was tricky, but so worth it. I really did NOT want to get up today, thanks to being in my own bed for the first time since Thursday night. But I pushed myself up and into the workout. I'm so glad I did. I felt great afterward. Admittely, depression is something I've struggled with for awhile now and the exercise truly does help.

We did our measurements today instead of yesterday due to traveling. I've gone from around 147 lbs to around 139. (I'm 5'8.) That made me happy, but even more so was my body fat percentage. I've gone from 21.8 to 19.9. It's a small step, but it's an improvement. David has seen great strides too, more than he thought was possible based on his perception of his appearance.

In other non-P90X news, I have a job interview tomorrow in the KC area. I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but they contacted me rather than me contacting them. So, that's a good sign. I had to go buy a new suit today. I'm still a little bit too heavy for my old suit, which I love and miss. But I've lost enough weight that my newer suit is too big. I look like I'm swimming in it. So we went to Penney's today and I spent more than I wanted. That's usual though.

Also, we went to Longhorn after shopping, hoping for some good salads. David ordered a salad with salmon and I had a strawberry and chicken salad. We were both gravely disappointed. I don't eat seafood anyway, but I could tell just by appearance that David's fish was overcooked and saturated with oil. This is supposed to be grilled. My salad was better than David's but still not great. My chicken was burned and a little bit fatty. There's nothing worse than biting into a piece of chicken or steak and coming up with a hunk of fat.

We're making Italian meatloaf from the nutrition plan tonight. We've already got it in the oven and it smells delicious. We're headed back to my parents tomorrow so I can go to the interview and then crash for the night. I'm anxious, but ready for the change. Won't be doing Plyo until the afternoon/evening so we can get out early tomorrow. Looking forward to it, even though it's my least favorite.

Day 27- Yoga X

I told you all I'm not a consistent blogger, I'm typing this with one hand, my other clutched around my five month niece who just bit my ring finger....hard. It was interesting trying to do Yoga this morning between the pitter-patter of a two year old and the cries of a baby who just wants a little attention. But we did it. I'm back in the game and Yoga felt great, despite the distractions. I invited my family to join us, but naturally, no one did.

David surprised me on Friday but throwing together a suitcase and informing me we were coming to my parents. Somehow, I always leave with the same feeling, like of being underwhelmed. Thus far, Yoga has been one of the best parts of the weekend. Aside from playing with my nieces of course.

We watched Marley and Me again last night with my parents and sister. I must say that I love the movie. I'm almost done with the book and it's even better than the picture. David has gotten the idea of getting a lab from the movie. We looked a little bit online yesterday and found some beautiful dogs for adoption, but we need to rent a house first. I have a job lead finally in the KC Metro area, so this could be the start,

We're going home tomorrow, so we'll probably do rest instead of stretch. But I'm looking forward to starting the second phase and having a bit of a routine again. Recovery week throws me off balance.

Will wrap up, need to go check my car as it hailed twice yesterday. Ahh Missouri. Miss that weather.

Day 24- Kenpo X

Today was Kenpo. David was struggling a bit this morning to get motivated and I actually was ready to go. That's a first. We both pulled through though and I actually feel great post-kenpo. I feel like I did a lot better today than last week and I'm thrilled for that. And I'm so proud of David for pushing through the exhaustion and giving it a go. He feels much better for that. I love my husband.

I'm excited to be almost in phase2. I'm ready for the diet change. It's subtle, but as not much of a meat eater, even one protein less is great. It's always tough for me to squeeze in my proteins, even with eating eggs.

Looking forward to stretch tomorrow. I think we're both ready for something that's a little less demanding, but still is important to our overall goals. I really want to go home to see my parents and my niece, but don't know when we'll get to. It's so hard to exercise when your 2 year old niece dominates the DVD player and the entire living room floor. That's not to mention the little sleep we get in the basement!! I guess it will have to wait....

Day 23- Core

Today was tough. Core is such an intense workout. David and I agreed we don't care for the Dreya Rolls. It's a little hard to do here because the living room is so small. We have to take extra care not to run each other over. Ready for Kenpo tomorrow.

We went to Applebees yesterday. David had a salad and I had a soup/salad combo. Been craving tomato soup lately, which is odd since tomatoes often bother my stomach. But it was delicious. Knock on wood, but my stomach hasn't been acting up as much with this diet, even when I eat stuff that usually aggravates it.

That's all. Don't really know what else to say so I'll wrap this up for now. Keep up the good work Christina and Jeremy. You're almost done!

Day 22- Yoga X Recovery Week

Today was the first day of recovery week, Yoga X. As previously stated, Yoga is one of my favorite days and it is one of David's too. He gets closer and closer to successfully performed Crane each time, although I'm sticking with Child's Pose for now on that. Today was very good for us both, not just for the physical activity, but for the calming effect of Yoga. We're both a little bit emotional after yesterday and we needed something to bring us back to center.

It seems that the core tomorrow will be difficult. All in due time.

I have to confess that I had a cheat day on the diet this weekend. Some friends from Springfield were up for the funeral so we did dinner with them after the viewing on Sunday. We went to this great brewery in downtown CoMo. My favorite is a garlic five cheese pizza. I know I shouldn't have, but I ordered it. And believe me, I enjoyed every bite. Now I'm back to the regular diet. Some people might have a problem with a cheat day, but I think it may work for me. It gives me a chance to eat something I enjoy without completing ruining everything I've done for the last 3 weeks. And it was one of three meals.

I don't feel too guilty...

days 20 & 21 kenpo & rest

I missed yesterday & I won't type much today because I'm using the BlackBerry. Kenpo was yesterday & I actually finished. I sweated a lot but it was a good sweat. Have to admit I'm not a huge fan of kenpo, mainly because I'm not very coordinated. Today we chose to rest because we had a funeral to attend. A friend's dad died unexpectedly & it was important for us to be there. I'm looking forward to yoga tomorrow.

Day 19- Legs and Back

David says it's day 19, so I'll trust him. Let me start by letting anyone who reads this know that I'm terrible at keeping up with blogs. So, don't be surprised if I miss a few days or even a week. I will really try to maintain, but I make no guarantees.

The people most likely to read this, at least at first, already know a little bit about me. But just in case... I am a somewhat newlywed, married February 14 (my parents' anniversary) to David. I'm 26, I grew up lower to mid-middle class, depending on the times. I do have a college degree in English, though I'm not a stickler for proper grammar on something like this.

David and I started P90X just under 3 weeks ago. I'll be honest, I'm not much for working out. I've had a decent metabolism my whole life and would rather bury my nose in a book than do a push-up. I always received the Presidential Fitness Award in school, but after my last mandatory year of gym in 9th grade, I didn't worry so much about fitness. David and I spent the last year in Wisconsin, where I put on between 15-20 lbs. I'm not overweight, and I was barely pushing the heavy side of normal, but I wasn't happy with my figure. David has struggled with his weight all his life and he was very excited/passionate about trying P90X. I wasn't so convinced, although I knew I needed to make some changes. I've promised David that I'll give it the 90 days before I make a decision on sticking with it or trying something else.

So far, this hasn't been exactly easy. My favorite days are arms/shoulders and yoga. I have a hard time with all the moving in the first half of yoga, but I love the balance yoga positions. I have noticed some significant changes in my body, particularly the loss of a little over 7 lbs. I spent all but two workout days of the second week with a nasty cold that kept me in bed. So, having missed that time, I think I'm doing pretty well. I'm a little worried about losing weight from certain areas and not others, but all I can do is my best. The diet is actually a lot more difficult than the exercise. I love junk food. I love chocolate and carbs. Pre-P90X, I didn't eat much meat. I'm not a vegetarian, but I just don't care for beef often. I've never liked pork and while I like chicken, I prefer a little breading and some baked chicken over something grilled. So on this diet, I try to eat some eggs for the protein. David got me some chocolate milk to have instead of a protein shake and while I love it, I still miss other chocolates. I have a hard time thinking that if I follow this diet strictly, I won't ever have another Snickers bar. =) My goal is to follow the diet as well as possible, but not to worry if I have an extra 1/2 carb or a little bit extra fat once in awhile. And I will probably break down at some point and indulge in something not on the diet, although I'm doing okay so far. We also plan to have children someday in the future, and although the recommended diet is similar to that of P90X, it's not the same. So, that will be interesting once we get there. We're not trying yet. I have a lot of stomach problems and I'm hoping the diet will help alleviate some of those.

So, I guess I typed more than I thought I would and I really just talked generalizations, not specifics. But there's my background. I'll let you stop reading, if you've gotten this far and I'll try to write more tomorrow.
